The "Faces of Orthopaedics"

In October 2018, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons launched “Faces of Orthopaedics,” a new multimedia campaign created to inspire and promote conversations around diversity in orthopaedics.

Like the patients they care for, orthopaedic surgeons come from all different walks of life; however, many stereotypes exist about who orthopaedic surgeons are and what they look like. The "Faces of Orthopaedics" campaign is meant to break those stereotypes by highlighting the diverse faces within the profession.

As part of the campaign, orthopaedic surgeons were invited to share photos and videos of themselves on social media using the hashtag #FacesofOrthopaedics, along with a caption describing the importance of diversity in orthopaedics or what makes them diverse.  Some of the many photos shared on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are featured in the collage below.
